Domeniile Franco-Romane was founded in 2000 on the initiative of Denis Thomas, owner and winemaker in Burgundy, with the help of a team of Romanian and French specialists.
The estate with its 45 hectares planted on slopes and terraces, together with the winery, is located in the centre of the Dealu Mare region, where the climate is very similar to that of the Bourgogne region in France. The conversion of the vineyard to organic viticulture began in 2003, and in 2006 the first certified organic wine in Romania was obtained.
Since 2020, Domeniile Franco-Române belongs to a group of Romanian investors who intend to capitalize on their passion for viticulture to bring the wines of the winery closer to consumers in Romania and abroad. The mission of the investors is to modernise the winery, expand the storage and vinification capacity and develop the organic plantation.
