Pastured poultry farm

The pastured poultry farm is a natural system of raising chickens directly on pasture. It’s basically a big greenhouse, like a sled, without a floor. In this way, birds are protected from the elements, from predators, they have access to sunshine, fresh air, they can show their natural instincts, to scavenge, to scratch, to pick insects, in other words, they can have an omnivorous diet.

The system is based on pasture grazing and involves herding chicks in floorless mobile houses which are moved daily (or even twice a day) to pasture or new alfalfa so that chicks from the age of 21 days have a chance to express their natural behavior and can move around.
